Cool Summer is also known as True Summer in the sci/Art method, and it’s the opposite season to Cool or True Winter. They are both Cool seasons, but while Winter is dark and contrasting, True Summer is Light and Soft and cannot wear the intense colors of Winter, or black. It shines in cool and subdued pastels, greys and blues instead. Cool summers have an overall ashy or cool coloring, with grey, blue or slate eyes, ash brown hair (that can become quite dark but not black) and cool or neutral beige skin.
General Characteristics Of The Cool Summer Palette
You are likely to be a Cool Summer if you have several of the following characteristics:
Hair can be a medium or dark ash brown, grey or a very light ash blonde. There is no warmth in the air, so redheads aren’t usually Cool Summers unless they dye their hair and have extremely pale alabaster skin.
Cool Summer skin is always cool, with a blue undertone and often a pink blush. It can be light alabaster to beige, but above all it’s very cool and doesn’t tan naturally.
Eyes are usually blue, green, light hazel or even a very light brown.
Are You A Cool Summer?
The easiest way of figuring out if you are a Cool Summer is looking at how your skin reacts to yellow-green, golden brown or burnt orange colors. If you look awful in those colors you are most likely a Cool Summer. The coolness of this season is uncompromising: anything warm and the skin becomes orange or yellow instead of looking healthy and alive. This season doesn’t look as good in black as Cool Winter and lacks the depth of color of Deep Winter but depending on the amounts of makeup it’s easy to get them confused.

- Kate Middleton can be a great example as she usually gets clothes in colours that suit her natural colouring despite the fake tan.
- Emily Deschannel
- Kimberly Williams
- Paulina Porizkova
- Christie Brinkley

Cool Summer Makeup
The best makeup colors for True Summer are cool and muted. Most shades of grey will look great on you, as will most cool blues and plums. For browns, avoid golden browns and those with orange undertones and stick to cocoa and taupe. As a highlight, try mint or lavender, or even a soft pink. Avoid black eye pencil and try charcoal, cocoa or navy instead for a less harsh look. In terms of lipsticks, Cool summer lipsticks are in the pink and plum range: soft fuchsia, rose, mauve or a soft berry would look great on you.
